With over two decades experience in analysing scripts, I have consulted on well over a thousand screenplays and productions as script editor or reader/consultant. Previous clients include Screen Australia, Screen NSW, Screen Tasmania, SBS Independent, as well as numerous independent production companies and filmmakers.
I consult across genre and narrative kind and offer guidance on the staples of dramatic and cinematic writing including: characterisation, structure, plot, theme, tone, point-of-view and audience experience. Drawing on three decades experience as a filmmaker I prefer to attune to the unique qualities of the story under consideration rather than apply a ready-made template of what a film should look and sound. I see film as art as well as entertainment.

Script Editor Credits
I script edited feature film The Rocket (2012) and AFI-nominated documentary Girl in a Mirror (2005), working closely with writer-directors Kim Mordaunt and Kathy Drayton, respectively, over several drafts. Both films attracted much critical acclaim and a slew of international and local awards. The Rocket was also Australia’s Official Entry for the 86th Academy Awards, Best Foreign Language Film. More recently, I served as script and story consultant on Kathy Drayton’s climate change essay, The Weather Diaries (2020) which premiered in the Sydney Film Festival as a finalist in the DAF feature documentary competition.
TESTIMONIALS FROM FILMMAKERS
‘Thank you so much for all your thoughtful and encouraging feedback which helped me break through the final blocks I had in the process of scripting and fine cutting such an intimate, personal film. I would not have made it through to completion in time for the festival without your incisive, poetic, free thinking approach to filmmaking, urging and supporting me to dive deeper and become more courageous in my decision making. I found your notes and discussions to be detailed, and intellectually and emotionally rich and I greatly appreciated the warmth and generosity you brought to the task. It was a nourishing and rewarding experience for me in so many ways.’ Kathy Drayton’ , 25 May 2020.
‘Miro was deeply involved in the scripting process for The Rocket…Through every stage she gave precise, creative and inspiring suggestions and feedback…[She] is one of the brightest practitioners in our industry.’ Sylvia Wilczynski (producer) and Kim Mordaunt (writer/director), The Rocket, 28 October 2012.
‘Miro was very astute in her feedback and assisted us in winnowing the material into a strong narrative arc. She was intelligent, sensitive and thoughtful and worked well with the writer/director Kathy Drayton.’ Helen Bowden (producer) Girl in a Mirror, 29 October 2012.
